I often live on the suffering and happiness of others. Nothing is more profitable than indirectly poking at emotions lived to the fullest, displayed in a certain work. I ask myself, what does it mean to live an emotion to the fullest? I think it's similar to Tran Dan's contemplation when he wanted to find the truth: a naked truth, without adornment.
When shooting this series, I kept thinking about Mary Oliver's poem "The Moths".
The poem talks about the dizziness of facing the unconsciousness and temporariness of existence, like the white moths whose names even the author doesn't know. I wonder about the life cycle of a poem and whether I'm participating in its endless cycle with my photos.
I don't remember how many times I felt cornered, seen through just by someone's writing, like in this following verse:
“ How long do they live, fluttering
in and out of the shadows?
You aren’t much, I said
one day to my reflection
in a green pond,
and grinned.”

sometimes in the taste of bitterness and suffering, I forget where they come from, whether from myself or other sentient beings. the sweetest and coldest from where things are so-called art perhaps is to take a tiny courage to commit to the world even torturing it seems, feeling the heartbeat from those rocks, trees, leaves, veins, and flesh and blood from the air.
from here hope falls to the ground. we have hands, spreading the ritual of love, gathering the fragrance flow from the water to go further to the lands of freedom.

This project by Superbloom with Khoi Le as a curator, follows his story when he visited to Vietnam to meet his grandmother in person for the first time.
“As my mom left Vietnam at the age of 19 in hopes of finding a better life and more opportunities. Along with her, she brought recipes for some of her favorite dishes that her mom used to cook for her. Growing up, I frequently enjoyed dishes like thit kho tieu and canh he, which became cherished family memories passed down through generations.
This summer, I am traveling to Vietnam to meet my grandmother in person for the first time. Through our meeting, I hope to understand her story and recreate the dishes that have traveled with my mom over the years. My goal is to create a recipe booklet with my grandmother and write about our family's journey.”

In this article, we visit a famous Lô Tô troupe in Saigon and chat with the troupe leader about the journey of preserving the profession along with the difficulties and especially emphasize the importance of this art form to queer performers in the troupe.
